Today is a special day! We’re doing our first (and probably only) in-depth feature on Hieronymus Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights. Though not particularly baby-related, this triptych is almost certainly the most WTF-worthy, balls-trippingly weird piece of art to come out of the Renaissance era. We’ve collected a few detail shots to illustrate just how fucking bizarre this piece is. Captions can do this masterpiece no justice, so we’ll just leave the images to speak for themselves. I grew up with a print of this in my house. Bosch is my mother’s favourite painters. I lived in a house with this for seventeen years, and I still notice new things about it when I go home to visit. A few months ago I got a chance to see the real painting in person in the Museo del Prado in Madrid. The print, though quite awesome, does the real one no justice.
